Privacy
What this site knows about you (very little), where it's kept, and what you can do about it.
Who runs this site
Zero to Spearhead is run by Harry, who is responsible for your data here. If you have a question about your privacy, email hello@zerotospearhead.co.uk.
What we collect
Not much. There are no accounts, no sign-ups and no contact form. Here's everything:
- Emails you choose to send us. If you email us, we get your email address and whatever you write. Harry reads them. We delete emails 12 months after our conversation ends. If you're writing about a business arrangement, such as a sponsorship, we may keep those emails longer, for as long as the arrangement and our records need them. You can always ask us to delete yours sooner.
- Visit counts. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages are popular. It doesn't use cookies and doesn't track you as a person. We only ever see totals, never who you are.
- Security logs. Cloudflare runs the site for us. To keep it working and protect it from attacks, Cloudflare keeps basic logs of visits, like your IP address (the internet address your device uses) and which page you asked for.
We don't sell anything about you, and we don't use advertising trackers.
What stays on your device
Your armies and the Game Assistant remember your armies, scores and settings so you don't lose them when you reload. They save this in your browser's own storage, along with a couple of display settings (like whether game sounds are on).
- It's not a cookie.
- It's never sent to us. It stays on your device.
- Clearing your browser data (or "site data" for this site) deletes it.
Affiliate links
Some links on this site may be affiliate links, and they're always labelled Affiliate link. We don't track you when you click one. But once you're on the shop's website, that shop may set its own cookies, and its own privacy policy applies. How affiliate links work here.
Tips
There's an optional "Buy me a paint pot" link to Ko-fi in the footer and on the About page. It's a plain link: this site doesn't load any Ko-fi code, so nothing from Ko-fi runs here unless you click through. If you choose to leave a tip, Ko-fi handles the payment and any details you give it, and its own privacy policy applies. If you're under 18, ask a parent or guardian first.
Who helps us run the site
- Cloudflare hosts the site and provides the visit counts.
- Google Workspace handles our email.
Both are US companies, so some of this information may be handled in the United States. They only use it to provide their service to us.
Your rights
You can:
- Ask what we hold about you. Usually that's only emails you've sent us.
- Ask us to delete it.
- Complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (the UK's data protection regulator) at ico.org.uk if you're unhappy with how we've handled your data. We'd like the chance to sort it out first, so please email us too.
